How to Track Which Content Actually Makes You Money
Likes and views feel good but they don't pay bills. Here's how to figure out which content actually drives revenue so you can double down.
okay here's a hard truth that took me way too long to learn — likes and views don't pay your bills. a post can go viral and earn you nothing. another post can get 50 views and bring in $500. if you're not tracking which is which, you're literally flying blind.
most of us check our views and likes and call it analytics. but those are vanity metrics — they feel good but they don't tell you what to do next. the metrics that actually matter are the ones tied to revenue.
for every piece of content or promo, track these four things — how much revenue came from this specific post or offer, what percentage of people who saw it actually bought, how many new subs came from this promo (if it's a promo post), and if you paid for promo, how much did each new sub cost you. that's it. those four numbers tell you what's working. everything else is noise.
the magic happens when you connect content to revenue. when you post a promo on tiktok, track how many subs came from that specific post. when you send a ppv, track how many fans bought it. over time patterns emerge and you'll notice certain content types consistently outperform others. maybe your behind-the-scenes content converts better than teasers. maybe your tuesday posts earn more than your friday ones. you won't know until you track it.
this is exactly why i built analytics into luxcreator suite — so you can actually see which content earns and which doesn't. pair it with good content planning and you have a system that compounds on itself.
once a week, sit down and look at your numbers. ask yourself three things — what earned the most this week, what earned the least, and what should i do more of next week. that's it. ten minutes a week and you'll know exactly where to focus. for more on pricing the content that actually works, read the ppv pricing breakdown.
don't try to track everything at once though. start with revenue per post this week. once that's a habit, add conversion rate. build it up one metric at a time until tracking is just second nature.
